So what sort of website do I need?

Websites tend to fall into one of the following categories:

Brochure Website

Many businesses simply want a way to show their contact details, opening hours and range of services offered. This sort of site can be very effective, even if it is a single page. We offer one-page, five-page and ten-page packages to give you a clear idea of what you get and what it will cost.

After discussing what you want, what the style and appearance should be and what information will be on the pages, we help you identify the key search terms that you want the search engines to list for your site, and we make a search-engine-friendly website to make that happen.

Online Shop

Whether you only sell a few items or many thousands, we can set you up with an online store that allows your business to sell 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We offer two package ecommerce stores for different scales of selling, but we are happy to develop a bespoke product specific to your needs.

News / Blog Site

We often get asked about blog websites and we can certainly set one up for you. However, for news and blog sites, content is key. A successful blog or news site needs a lot of content added on a regular and frequent basis. We are happy to help you do this, but we won't pretend that it won't be a lot of work for you.

Listing Website

If you want a website that lists things like classified ads, online auctions, job vacancies, cat sitters, volunteer opportunities or a plethora of other things, we can help you with that. Each requirement is different, so understandably we can't offer a set menu of package prices for this category. But we can help.

Or anything else…

Online Forum Read below to see why Facebook is not a great platform for your web presence. However, a discussion forum of your own may be very useful.

Generally, an online forum is a way that people can interact with one another. Set one up for your specialist subject area and you could build a vibrant and active online community. By running your discussion board, you are not at the mercy of the provider's advertising agenda.

Online Help Perhaps your business would benefit by offering customers an online helpdesk? These can be like a discussion forum, or more of a technical support ticketing system. We can help you decide what is best for you and we can set it up for you.

Online Chat A ‘Chat Window’ for real-time contact with your customers? We can set that up for you.

Why do I need a website? Can't I just use Facebook?

Yes, you can use Facebook, but that approach has a lot of disadvantages.

For a start, most people don't use Facebook (yes, really!) Facebook only show your pages to a subset of their users. The more successful you are, the more they limit access unless you pay them a hefty fee for visibility. And even Facebook users who are shown your posts may miss them unless they log in frequently.

Setting up and maintaining a Facebook page is a surprising amount of effort. At the end of the day, it remains Facebook's property, not yours.

We are happy to build the website that suits you best, specific to your needs. We recommend having your own website, using a domain name registered in your name. Perhaps have a Facebook presence, but direct visitors from there to your own website, not the other way round.
